When you take your dog to the veterinarian there is rarely a test or procedure that an individual will not pay for in order to maximize the health of their furry friend. However, when a veterinarian requests any type of procedure that involves dog dental examination or dog teeth cleaning many owners pass on the opportunity. This rejection of dog dental procedures by many dog owners is  due to a misperception that dog dental care is for cosmetic reasons.

There is a great deal more accomplished than cosmetics in a dog teeth cleaning procedure. Dog dental care is an essential part of any dog’s health and is just as vital to the health of the animal as booster and immunity shots. Dog dental care does not just make the appearance of your pet’s dog teeth attractive, it more importantly helps to ensure that your pet’s mouth is completely healthy so that they can continue to enjoy the life experiences of eating, drinking, cleaning and playing.

When your pet’s dog dental health is not at its best your pet begins to suffer from pain, tenderness and sore gums. When these symptoms develop, most animals will hide the pain as it is in their nature not to display weakness. As the symptoms of poor dog dental care continue to develop it becomes harder for your pet to eat, drink and clean themselves.
Unfortunately, most pet owners do not recognize the sign of poor dog dental care until their pet has made the choice to stop eating instead of suffering through the pain which is often too late to find a solution.

This is why you need a trained veterinarian to initially manage your dog teeth cleaning. Then you  also need to take on dog teeth cleaning yourself by taking the take the time to learn and do more before it is too late.

When you make the decision to take an interest in your pet’s dog dental health, look for the signs. Red gums are often a sign of infection that can lead to weakening your pet’s pain, tooth loss and even infection in other organs. Plaque or tartar buildup can weaken dog teeth and expose gums to infection. Dog breath is often thought of as bad but bad breath is a sign of infection or rotting food stuck in teeth, requiring a dog teeth cleaning to resolve.
